Who I Am
Hi, my name is Jaco, and I am a calisthenics athlete from South Africa.
I am passionate about health and fitness but mostly calisthenics.
My fitness journey
It all started a couple of years ago.
I got myself a bench, a couple of weights and a pull-up bar for my home gym. I quickly fell in love with fitness and working out.
After a few months of working out at home, my friends asked if I wanted to go to the gym with them for one day, and I agreed. At first, I felt like a stranger in that gym; I did not know what to do or how everything works, but after getting used to it and seeing all the equipment I could have access to, I decided to sign up for a membership.
I was dedicated to building the best body ever and I kept going to the gym every day. I quickly got addicted to weightlifting and all I wanted to do was get bigger and stronger, but one day it all changed. I witnessed a guy in the gym doing a handstand and I had to try. I could not even get close, but I was dedicated to learning it. I started practicing calisthenics just a bit before my weightlifting sessions, but I was not really taking it seriously.
I learned the handstand and the muscle up this way, but I wanted more, so I decided to go all in on calisthenics and leave weightlifting behind. I started to get more knowledge about calisthenics, and I got better and better at it. And now I am at the point where I teach others all about health, fitness, and calisthenics through my blog.
